Ebro Delta

A changing landscape.
The people who call it home.

At the mouth of the Ebro River in Catalonia, generations have made their lives from the land and water. Rice farmers, fishermen, shellfish producers and salt workers have shaped a landscape that is now undergoing profound change.

THE PROJECT

The people, the land and the water

Coastal erosion, rising seas and changing environmental conditions are threatening both the Delta and the livelihoods that depend on it.

Ebro Delta is a long-term documentary photography project by photojournalist James Breeden, exploring the relationship between the people, the land and the water, and what the future may hold for one of Europe’s most distinctive landscapes.
